GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard, the leading worldwide certification for organic textiles. It is considered the strictest and most comprehensive standard in the industry, ensuring that every certified product meets both ecological and social criteria.
Unlike labels that only test the final item, GOTS certification follows the textile through its entire journey: from the cotton seed in the field, through spinning, dyeing, weaving, and finally to the product you hold in your hands.
How GOTS Works
Organic farming
The process begins with organic agriculture. Cotton is grown without harmful pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, or genetically modified seeds, protecting both the soil and the health of farming communities.
Environmentally responsible production
All processing stages must meet strict ecological requirements. Chemicals such as dyes or softeners are carefully controlled, wastewater must be treated, and energy and water use is monitored to reduce environmental impact.
Fair and safe working conditions
GOTS certification also covers people. Factories are required to provide safe working conditions, fair wages, and absolutely no child or forced labor.
Independent certification and traceability
Every certified product carries a unique GOTS ID number. This makes it possible to verify authenticity online and ensures complete transparency from start to finish.
